Journey into the psychoscenic: studio notes

Welcome to Silas Wren's Studio Notes, a place where art unfolds from inspiration to exhibition. Dive deep into the 'how' and 'why' behind my landscape paintings, explore the unique 'Psychoscenic' approach, and discover the thrilling journey of art as it meets the viewer. Here, I share the insights, experiences, and thoughts that shape my creative world.

The genesis of psychoscenic

My engagement with landscape painting underwent a profound shift following an experience in North Wales. Driving across The Cobb from Penrhyndeudraeth to Porthmadog, the sudden transition from tree-shrouded roads to the awe-inspiring view of the Snowdon mountain range was captivating. This dramatic shift and its powerful psychological effect revealed a new way we relate to landscapes in our mobile lives. This revelation sparked the 'Psychoscenic' approach, aiming to capture these compelling transitions and the personal responses they evoke.

Beyond the canvas: a shared journey

A painting's life doesn't end when it leaves the easel; it continues and evolves through the viewer. I believe the creative process is passed from artist to viewer, and it is with the viewer that the painting truly develops its full potential. My hope is that my paintings stimulate your interpretive powers, offering a deeper and more fulfilling excitement and enjoyment. This interaction fosters a shared understanding of art and allows the work to take on a continued, vibrant existence.

From Kensington to the world: exhibition highlights

The journey of my art extends far beyond the studio. I'm currently exhibiting in Quebec, with exciting plans to showcase my work in Strasbourg next month. The new year promises an even broader reach, with exhibitions planned in 10 new countries. These international showcases allow the 'Psychoscenic' approach to resonate with a global audience, fostering new interpretations and connections. Stay tuned for updates on my international artistic voyage!
